How long will my session last?
Typically a 60-minute session is sufficient for a client to reach a calm state and for the Reiki to address the major energy centers of the body. A 90-minute session allows extra time to attend to specific concerns of additional stress or pain relief. We encourage first-time clients to take advantage of the 75-minute introductory offer that provides guided meditation to aid in relaxing into the session and a sample of Reiki with crystals and sound healing. A 30-minute session is appropriate for children and for a quick re-charge to maintain good energy balance for those who receive Reiki more regularly.
Will a single Reiki treatment relieve my ailments?
Typically one session will provide some relief with pain and stress, but four sessions are optimal for more noticeable and longer lasting results. People often seek Reiki to recover from surgery, manage stress and anxiety, cope with losses and use Reiki in conjunction with other medical treatments. Physical and emotional stress and traumas can cause energy blockages which in turn can cause illness or pain. The Reiki practitioner channels healing energy to release these energy blocks in order to activate the body's ability to heal itself. Depending on your purpose for Reiki, more than one session may be needed.
How often should I receive Reiki?
In the same way that eating a proper diet and exercising is good for your health, receiving Reiki on a routine basis is positive for maintaining your overall health and well-being. For many, once a month is appropriate. For those just starting with Reiki who are working on healing a particular physical or emotional stress, it may be beneficial to receive treatments every 1-2 weeks for the first four sessions to get the energy flowing and the body's natural healing process started. I like to discuss this with you based on your goals, but I trust that clients will know what works best for their individual needs.
Do I take my clothes off during a Reiki session ?
No. You will remain fully clothed, but it is helpful to wear comfortable clothing. The goal during a session is to make you as comfortable as possible so that you can relax and enjoy the benefits of the experience. Typically a meditative atmosphere is created with soothing music, and efforts are made to ensure that you are covered, if desired, for an optimum temperature. Aromatherapy is included once we determine there are no allergies or sensitivities.
What happens during and after a Reiki session?
During the session, the practitioner may work with light touch or hands hovering above your body. Some people see colors or feel light pulsing, waves, or tingling. Others may fall asleep. In any case, the energy flows and the Reiki session should leave you feeling relaxed and energized. The practitioner will gently wake you and allow you to sit for a while to come back into your body while maintaining this relaxed state. Since Reiki initiates a cleansing process for the body, it is important to drink water and avoid alcohol or caffeine.

After the session, you should feel more peaceful and find that you sleep more soundly and are less reactive to situations that might otherwise stress you. Because the healing energy of Reiki stimulates a release of toxins and emotions, some people feel more emotional or physically tired. This is temporary and are all signs that your body's natural healing has begun.
How does distance Reiki work?

If you are unable to attend a Reiki session in person, or wish to send Reiki to loved ones across the miles, we can schedule a distance Reiki session or create a healing crystal grid to send Reiki.
Distance Reiki is based on the ancient Hermetic Law of Similarity which states that we are all connected by energy and part of a larger whole. Since energy is not bound by physical location or time, healing Reiki energy can be sent to people in other locations.
